He was more of a brother/friend than a "nephew":).
(Me, Wayne's sister Emily, and Wayne)
We played often together as kids and we loved to goof around. When "Dumb and Dumber" came out, we were both changed forever. Wayne is a wonderful, giving person. It seems like he has been gone for WAY longer than 10 years. So far, I can definitely say that time does not heal wounds.
I wanted pay tribute to him today and document some of the articles regarding his death for my kids to read someday.
DESERET NEWS JUNE 1, 2001:
A West Bountiful man is dead after falling 600 feet down a canyon while he was jogging in Mueller Park.
Davis County Search and Rescue workers recovered the man's body today at about 5:30 a.m. after two teenage boys noticed him lying at the bottom of the canyon Thursday at about 9 p.m.
The 20-year-old man lived with his parents in West Bountiful. Police had not released his name, pending notification of family members.
The man had dinner with his family Thursday night, then left for Mueller Park, where he goes jogging a couple of times a week, Horton said.
Police found the man's truck at the gate of the canyon with his wallet inside.
Search-and-rescue workers started making their way down the rough, steep terrain about 2:30 a.m. today. Three hours later, the first paramedic to reach the man pronounced him dead.
Search-and-rescue workers then carried the man's body out of the canyon.

What a nice tribute... your kids will appreciate this one day. :)
I totally remember that tragedy! That was a hard one for sure. I remember you just wanted to be left alone to get through it on your own and Melissa and I didn't know what we could do to help (was Amy gone by then?). For some reason I remembered it wrong and thought he was on a bike. I love those pictures of you guys as kids! How sad that you and your family have all been without him all these years. I bet it is somewhat theraputic to write about him and remember him. I'm still so sorry for your loss.
