This summer we ventured out to Lagoon with the kids for the first time! The boys had been asking if we could go there and we weren't interested in spending a small fortune for one day at Lagoon. We'd rather save our money and go to Disneyland. However, one positive aspect of Nate being the party planner in his company is that he gets to choose what activities the company provides for their employees and this year, Lagoon!
We told the boys back in...April... I think that we were going to Lagoon in August and it's been comparable to counting down to Christmas. They were SO excited!
We got to Lagoon right when the gates opened and we didn't leave until closing!
Preston was happy to keep Lauryn company on some of the baby rides.
After the baby rides we ate lunch with all the bank employees and then we headed off to Lagoon a Beach. Preston managed to sneak onto one water slide before they stopped and measured him and told him he was too short to go on anymore. So after a lot of tears, we moved on to the "medium" thrillers...
Preston is very short for his age. The kids in his class at school tower over him and he was ONE inch too short to go on most of the bigger rides at Lagoon. Every time he got turned away, my heart broke because he was devastated. Especially because Spencer was tall enough to go on everything. I had finally had enough. I told Nate to take off his socks and I rolled them up and put them in Preston's shoes. With a bit of adjustments I tied his shoes back up and walked him over to the measuring chart and Shazaam! He had gained the inch he needed! After that it was smooth sailing...he rode everything and anything to his heart's content.
Apparently Bulgy the Whale was terrifying to Lauryn!
Mostly it was just nap time...
The Ferris Wheel
Lauryn went on a surprising number of "big kid " rides. She was terrified during the rides, but as soon as they ended, she'd say "Was that so fun!?"
Then we moved on to the scary rides. The boys were shockingly willing to try anything and everything. They loved The Wild Mouse, the Bat and the Spider, so I figured they'd definitely be able to handle Colossus...not so much. Preston was so mad I let him go on Colossus. He said the "loop de loops" were too much. So that pretty much scarred him for life and he refused to try anything else...
And we finished with the scary rides, Spencer and Nate moved on to the terrifying ride. Spencer could NOT get enough of any of them. He even went on Wicked and all he wanted was more, more, more.
After a full 13 hour day at Lagoon, we're good for a year!! Hopefully we'll go back next summer. The boys still talk about it every day:).
