Spencer had his first soccer game this week. And to be honest, I did not expect much out of him. Spencer has a.... difficult personality:). Let's just say, he's a bit on the "stubborn/I do things when I feel like it - MY WAY!" attitude. Last year, tee-ball was fun, but Spencer really didn't dig it. He would sort of participate, but not really. So we decided to give soccer a try this year and see if he liked it any better. And to my dismay, he LOVES soccer.
He got right out there on the field and played his heart out. He's not aggressive, he just sort of runs around and acts like he knows what's going on. But the most important part is that he has a big smile on his face the WHOLE time. So we'll call Spencer's soccer experience thus far... a success.
Now for Preston... He has been SO excited to play soccer. Since we got his uniform and gear a few weeks ago, he has asked several times when his soccer game is. And I have been so looking forward to watching him play. I was CONVINCED that Preston would LOVE soccer. He has SO much energy, he loves to run, he loves to kick the ball, and he loves to be with other kids... perfect combination right..? WRONG!! Preston cried the entire way to his first game. He wouldn't get out of the car. By the time I dragged him onto the field and got him over to his team, he bolted and ran away. After capturing him at the other end of the field, I dragged him back and he then sprawled himself onto the field (in front of all the other parents and coaches) and proceeded to throw a fit saying that he didn't want to play. We tried for 15 minutes to get him out on the field during the game, before we finally gave up and left. I couldn't even get him to stand up long enough to take a picture of him in his soccer uniform. So we'll call Preston's soccer experience thus far, a HUGE failure!!
**Note to Moms- just when you tHiNk you've got your kids figured out...YOU DON'T!!! So don't even pretend to understand them. It will only set you up for dissapointment in yourself as a mom. I wish soccer was refundable...

Soooo funny! Love reading your updates! Miss you and I can't wait to see pick of the new baby!
I meant PICS....lol
Beth I am flat out shocked! I totally thought how you did! You are right, you never know, but as a parent if you don't try these things out, you would ask yourself "what if?"
So here's to never saying what if and to trying again next week. Maybe it was a one time battle... I'll cross my fingers. :)
That was hilarious! I just picture you guys trying to get Spencer out on the field. I want to sign katelyn up because she says she wants to try so we'll see how that goes.
