30's are the pits...

Yesterday was Nate's 30th Birthday. It's a pretty significant birthday and I really wanted to do something special for him. I kept debating on what we should do because Nate didn't want me to spend any money because he just wanted to be able to put that money into the basement. So that pretty much limited me to... a homemade card?? As the day approached, I wrestled it over and then my decision was made for me... Nate sprained his ankle and couldn't walk so that's what we did for his birthday. I tried giving the day meaning by decorating the house a little and I made some of his favorite foods to eat while he sat around. And he did manage to hobble enough to go see a movie with the boys and then go out to dinner. But that's it. What a lousy 30th Birthday!! And as I thought it over, Nate was really sick on his birthday last year and barely got out of bed. What's the deal? But at least he is here to celebrate his birthday with us. He's usually a very healthy individual and his limbs all usually work really well so we definitely can't complain. We are so fortunate in so many ways and all in all it's not a big deal to have a lame birthday here and there (no pun intended:). But I hope 31 treats him even better. Here's to 2011!!

Happy Birthday Nate! I hope you are feeling better. Todd just celebrated his last month and he didn't want anything either! He said his birthday turned out just fine but I wish I could have done something big for him. Oh well. Like you said there is always next year. :)

Tell Nate that now he's in his thirties there is a certain amount of caution he needs to take when participating in physical activities... ;)

Happy Birthday Nate!!

Sprained ankles are rotten. Too bad 30 couldn't be a blast. My mom was so sad for Nate when she heard. I'm glad you still managed to make it a special day. I can't wait to see what happens for your 30! I hope you aren't sick and lame, too. Here's to next year!
