Nate's mom saw these and told me about them and I thought they were a great idea. They are shelves made out of rain-gutters.
My boys are slowly losing interest in reading as they get older and I've been thinking that maybe if they could see the covers of some of their books better, they would have more of a desire to read them. Right now all their books are on a shelf in their closet and it seems that now they are out of sight, they are also out of mind. So when I heard about these shelves, I was very intrigued. Nate put them up and the boys love them. I think they are great for kids that share rooms or have bunk-beds because they can have their "own" shelf and space to put their own books and treasures on. They don't hold very many books, they are more decorative than practical. But my boys have been much more interested in their books since we put their shelves up and they can see some of them better.
They were really easy to put up. Total cost was about $28 for both. If you would like the step by step instructions, click here.

That is truly an amazing idea. And look how industrious you guys are. I love the way it looks too. And Bear Snores On is one of our favorites over here. I love the rhythm to it. When Kate gets upset over something, Scott and I will often say, "Don't fret, don't fuss, look see, we can pop more corn we can brew more tea." LOVE BOOKS! Gotta do whatever we can to keep 'em reading! Good job.
I am majorly interested in those for when I move to my new house... that would be great for their bunks and books!
