Christmas Merriment

It's hard to believe that with all the hype and anticipation... Christmas comes and then it's over just like that. But it's so fun it's definitely worth it. We had a great Christmas. I think our boys are the perfect age for Christmas right now. It's all just one big magical time of year. I am already sad for the years they just want expensive gifts, and they don't believe in the magic anymore.

Nate and I tried to instill as much religion into Christmas as we could. On Christmas Eve, we put the "fun" Christmas movies and other distractions away. And we spent most of the day talking about the Nativity story and we watched The Testaments and Luke II. Preston made it about 45 seconds into the movie before he started asking when the talking dogs part was coming. Spencer spent a good deal of the time asking how Jesus and Frosty the Snowman are related. But all in all by the end, Spencer really was starting to understand the Christmas story. At least we tried.

Nate and I laugh every year to our boys' responses when we ask them what they would like Santa to bring them. This year, Spencer asked for a "Little bike that he could change it's tires." And here he is...

And Preston is a Disney Cars junkie. He wanted a "New Lightning McQueen." So he got the set of Cars with a new Lightning McQueen. He almost hyperventilated when he opened his Cars.

Among a few other toys, Santa brought this train/road set for the boys to share. They love it. It's a little boy's dream.

Nate and I decided to give each other a finished basement for Christmas so we didn't go all out on gifts this year. I did however manage to score a pearl necklace and some new socks. Nate scored some new movies and a CD. Our gift of a finished basement should be coming sometime in the Spring/Summer of 2010. (Yeah!!!)

And now Christmas is over and it's hard to transition back into normal life again. But new toys and new movies definitely make the transition a little easier. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas too!
