Camping in December???

Well we ventured out on our annual camping trip with some of my family last week. We left on Thursday morning and headed up to the Uinta Mountains. We had a great time Thursday and Friday, despite a few rain showers here and there. But Saturday morning, the showers started early and before we knew it, the rain turned to hail, and then the hail turned to snow. We tried to stick it out for a couple of hours but finally gave up. I love camping but I DO NOT love camping in 35 degrees with snow piled up on my tent. So we ended up coming home a day early.

Notice the nice sunny weather...

Rock painting anyone?

Camping+little boys = DIRT!!! But cute dirt.

Ooohhh what is this... snow in August??

Preston huddled up with Aubrey trying to stay warm by the fire.

I totally forgot to bring our snow shovel to make a pathway to our tent.

Wow what a warm fire! Too bad we're all soaking wet and can't feel our hands anymore.

Never knew how much that DVD player in the Expedition would come in handy. The little ones stayed warm, dry, and entertained. Too bad there wasn't room for all of the adults.

We still had a lot of fun. And since we were planning on having tin-foil dinners on Saturday night, we just brought the party back to our house and cooked them over our fire pit in our backyard. Then we ended the night with dutch-oven peach cobbler. Delicious!

That's awesome! I can't believe the weather conditions you had for that fun-filled campout. I'm glad it ended well at your house with good food.

Spencer looks like a puppy in the pic with the dirt... so cute!

Beth, you made it at least one night longer than I would have...

Crazy! Todd had scout camp and luckily they came home early Saturday before the snow came!

Wow, that sounds pretty chilly. Well now I don't feel as bad for making you come home early to be in the library.

Ya gotta love Utah weather. I like Nate's hail helmet. It suits him.
