A long awaited Happy Birthday!

Preston turned 6 last week! His birthday was on a Tuesday and Nate had his Blue & Gold Banquet for Scouts that night so we took Preston out for his birthday on Saturday. He wanted to go bowling, then for dinner he wanted to go to "The place where you eat the peanuts outside and they have all the rolls with pink butter" (Texas Road House;) and then he wanted to go to the store to pick out his new bike. So that is what we did!

Here is Spencer giving the pins a run for their money.
And Daddy, an old bowling pro...
But neither of them stood a chance against the Birthday Boy!
His first perfect STRIKE and an amazing photo to prove it!  Nothin' but air.

We had a hard time keeping little Lauryn from chasing her ball right down the alley.

We had a great time bowling!

Then we were off to Texas Roadhouse where Preston enjoyed peanuts, countless rolls, a hot dog, applesauce, and an ice-cream sundae he got after sitting on the saddle and enduring the TR birthday song;).
After dinner, we went from store to store until Preston found the bike of his dreams...more on that later.

On Monday night we had Preston's party.  He got several cool gifts from lots of people who really love him.

Preston didn't really want a themed party.  He's "getting too old" for that kind of stuff.  But when I asked him what kind of plates he wanted, he said Spider man.  And he wanted to dress up like Spider man at his party.  So at this point I felt there was in fact a theme, whether he intended it that way or not.
After weeks of requesting apple pie instead of cake, he changed his mind at the last minute and asked for cupcakes and I made them as Spider-man-ey as time allowed.  He also had several crepe paper Spider man webs as decorations for his party.
Good cake, good company!
Nothing like a blue and red cupcake with a spot of Play-doh ice cream!

Spider man himself

Then on Tuesday, his actual birthday, Preston requested pancakes with sausage, hash browns, and apple juice for his special breakfast before school.

And here he is just before school taking his new bike out for the first ride since Daddy put it together.
Preston was the Star of the Week all week at school (which he had been counting down to for the last 7 months).  He displayed a poster of himself in his classroom and he got to be the "line leader" everyday.

On Friday I went to his class and did a spotlight on him and took some of his favorite things to show his friends in his class. Then he gave each of his friends a gift bag with some special goodies inside.

I think he had a great week and it was a very Happy Birthday for our favorite six year old!
