Today is Nate's ankle's birthday! (I can say "birthday" because it really is a brand new ankle.) His surgery was one year ago. And we are thrilled that a whole year has gone by! That was not an enjoyable time for our family.
We took Nate breakfast in bed and sang Happy Birthday. We made him "foot shaped" pancakes and sausage. He didn't realize it was the one year anniversary so he thought we were crazier than normal when he saw us walk in with a lit candle on his pancakes. And I think it's only natural that WE remember the anniversary of his ankle more than him because as painful and difficult as the surgery was for him....IT WAS WORSE ON US!!!!
Yay for 1 year!!!

So glad that is behind you, and you can smile about it (I don't think you're to laughing yet... the memory is still to fresh) over foot shaped pancakes.
Now Nate, please try and get more than thirty years out of this new one. ;)
That is so hilarious! You are always so good at celebrating the little triumphs in life. That's a gift. I am so glad that year is behind you all. Cute pancakes.
