When I was growing up, every year over UEA break at school, my family went to Mueller Park Canyon and had a picnic. We roasted hot dogs, drank hot chocolate, and had a "candy" treasure hunt in the woods. It was so much fun. It was a tradition that we all loved. But around the time I got married, our tradition fizzled out. I guess lives got too busy and there weren't very many little kids that wanted to go anymore. But this year, we resumed the tradition. We had a small crowd... but a fun time none the less.
Searching for the hidden candy in the woods
Jackpot!
What a haul!
Beautiful leaves! The boys each picked a handful of leaves to take home.
Preston was exhausted by the time we got a home.(Notice the leaves he diligently kept clenched in his hand.)

what a fun tradition! The leaves look great up there. Good thing you got up before it had a chance to snow. What you been up to? We need to catch up.
Hi Beth,
What a great tradition!
If we'd been decent parents we'd have done the same thing.....

How fun! It's nice to see a picture with you in it Beth, since you're always behind the camera. :)
I miss Mueller park leaves. Someday....
I love your autumn background, very festive.
So fun! There is nothing like fire roasted hot dogs and hot chocolate! Yum! Mueller is a great tradition. I'm glad the family picked that one up again.
