My Kids Say the Darnest Things...

Preston: Mom! Today we had a NEW teacher in computer!

Me: Oh what was his name?

Preston: Um...I'm not sure.  I know the first part is Mr. But I can't remember the rest.

Spencer: Mom - who is Daddy's Grandma?

Me: You know Grandpa Dick and Grandma Joy that come to Grandpa Craig's house and eat with us a lot? Grandma Joy has white hair.

Spencer: Oh yeah!  And Grandma Joy has glasses?

Me: Yes.

Spencer: Oh yeah.  And she has the really wrinkly face.

(After church the Sunday they split our ward)

Nate: Preston!  How was Primary today?

Preston: It was good.

Nate: Did all of the kids meet together for Primary?

Preston: Yeah.  There were so many kids, so we had primary in the stable.

Nate: Oh.  You mean the Chapel?

Preston: Oh yeah.  The Chapel.

During Christmas time Spencer had a lot of questions about Santa.  I tried my best to curb his curiosity.  He asked me repeatedly if Santa spoke every language in the world.  I told him Santa has to be able to speak every language because he needs to be able to talk to all the children in the world because there are children in every country.  He seemed content with my answer.  And then it would come back to bite me...

As we are waiting in line to see Santa at the mall:

Spencer: Mom! I can't wait to see Santa! (as Preston is trying to flee the scene because he wants NOTHING to do with the monster)

Me: Yeah Bud! I'm glad you love Santa so much! What are you going to ask Santa to bring you this year?

Spencer:  I am going to ask him for a green light saber, like Yoda has, and something else that he thinks I would like. But I am going to tell Santa what I want in French since he speaks French.

Me: Umm... I think when we are in America, Santa likes to just speak English since most people in America speak English.  He usually only speaks French in places where everybody speaks French.

Spencer:  Oh...ok.

Me: (gasping in relief that he accepted my response)

Spencer: Hey Mom!  I know why some people wear those necklaces on their teeth!

Me: Why do they?

Spencer: Because they help their teeth grow in straight.

Me: That's right.  And those 'necklaces' are called braces.
