Spencer's preschool graduation was last Monday. This is his second year of preschool and he has loved it so much. He had a different teacher last year and they didn't have a graduation, so I was really excited this year when I found out there was going to be a graduation and that his teacher was going all out to make it really special for the kids.
Spencer had a speaking part and was going to sing a duet with one of his friends and he was so excited for his "program". The day of the graduation Spencer was excited and kept practicing his part. But about 3 hours before we were going to leave, he started acting a little mopey and I could tell he was getting a fever. It hit him pretty fast and hard and by the time of the graduation, his fever was 103 and he could barely move. So needless to say, HE MISSED GRADUATION!!!!
I was probably a little more upset about it than Spencer was. I actually started crying when I knew we weren't going to make it. Just thinking about the fact that this was the first time he was going to be in a program of this magnitude and he had practiced and was SO excited, and it was all for nothing. But even more than that, he wasn't going to get to say good-bye to all of his friends at school. Particularly... Brooklin. He is in love with her, and he doesn't understand that he will probably never see her again in his life. She is going to a different elementary and unless fate brings them back together.... So that's that. And the next day when he started feeling a little better, he said, "Mom can we go to my program now that I'm not sick anymore?" Ahhh.... heart-wrenching!
AND I would love to post some pictures of Spencer but during the chaos that has been May, I LOST OUR DIGITAL CAMERA (and memory card)!!! As ironic as that is... Our old camcorder broke and we were only relying on our fairly new digital camera, but we finally caught back up and bought a new camcorder so we wouldn't miss a second of our little girl's arrival and all her firsts. And now we don't had a still shot camera anymore.
So anyway, congrats on your graduation Spencer! We love you! His teacher Miss. Michelle came by to see him a few days ago and to say good-bye. She told us that Spencer was very respectful in her class and a great student. He (and Brooklin... a tear) were the top two students in her class. She said he is more than ready for Kindergarten. In fact, since Brooklin is going to the charter school, they are allowing her to skip Kindergarten and go straight to first grade. But the public school can't do that until after the first month of the school year. So we will see how Kindergarten goes. He is very excited and I know he will love school!

That's crappy. I could have told you that Spencer was the top of his class, and I've never even taught him... soooo smart!
I love that you were a bit more sad about him not going then he was. That is so how it is. That was such a cool milestone and you didn't get to cross it together. I hope fate brings Brooklin back into his life. That would be so cool if they could at least laugh about the crush they had back in the day. I love young love. Adorable. Bummer about the camera.
