Where does the time go...

Okay this post is long overdue because things have been a little crazy. But a couple of weeks ago, Preston had his second soccer game, and it was much different than the first game! We had been pumping Preston up all week that he was going to have another game and we were all going to come cheer for him and that we wanted to watch him kick the ball into the goal (yada, yada, yada). And I was really hoping that all of the positive reinforcement would work. I would have been happy if he had just gone out onto the field for 3 minutes and tried at this point. So anyway, he acted really excited and said (again) that he wanted to go and play with his team. So after one last dramatic pep talk in the car on the way to his game, Preston grabbed his ball and got out of the car and ran to his field. He started warming up with his team and kicking the ball all over the place. He ran so much in warm up that by the time the game started, he was getting tired. But he got out there and went NUTS on the field! He was totally dominating the ball the whole time. He made several goals and every time he even got possession of the ball and didn't score, he cried that he didn't get another goal.

So to go from not even taking a step onto the field... to dominating the field was pretty dramatic. I guess it just goes to show how unpredictable 4 year olds are:).

So yesterday he had his third game, and surprise, surprise,.. he cried through almost the entire first quarter that he didn't want to play. After all the bribing we could come up with, he finally ran out onto the field, and scored 5 goals in about 4 minutes. It was HILARIOUS!!! His coach had to ask him to sit out for a few minutes to give the other boys a turn with the ball. I would love to post some video, but all the videos I have are like 20 minutes long because I am laughing so hard I am crying watching him play. And I can't stop recording because the footage is so good, I'm afraid I will miss something. Not knowing one minute to the next if he is going to be crying on the side lines that he doesn't want to play... or will he be out scoring his little heart out?? He keeps us on our toes! Who says girls are the hormonal ones?..

I'm so glad he decided soccer is cool enough for him to grace it with his presence... Yea Preston, and yea for his patient parents!

That is hilarious! I love it. What a funny kid. He definitely has the competitive gene of his Grandfather's. I love the part about girls not being the only hormonal ones. He sure throws you for a loop, doesn't he? That's awesome. And it's so cool that he is so good at the game.
